I am a professional economist and photographer.

I am consultant for international public institutions and research fellow at the São Paulo School of Business Administration. I have a keen interest in financial markets and the public financial safety net, and enjoy working with people with different backgrounds. For more than two decades, I worked at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), serving its Committee on Financial Markets Committee as well as representing the OECD at the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in various workstreams on financial stability issues. I lead the OECD work on financial sector guarantees and engaged in many research collaborations, including with the European Commission Joint Research Centre, the New York Fed, Bank of England, Banca d’Italia and Swedish Riksbank. I recently helped the European Investment Bank (EIB) develop its impact analysis of public financial support programmes.

As photographer, I am passionate about street photography. I am not overly concerned with following rules and references, but understand that I am most likely influenced by them, even if only at a sub-conscious level. I have shown my work in galleries in Paris and Berlin. I am the overall winner of the EIB “Behind the lens” photo competition of 2021, with the photo shown below. A photo from the series ‘Parisian Mannequins‘ was honored as a finalist in the prestigious Prix IREST 2023 competition at Sorbonne Art Gallery. Incidentally, all  photos on the present website are taken by me, mostly with a Leica M10-P and either a 35mm Summicron or 50mm Summilux lense. I apply minimal editing, with the pretty obvious exception of the series ‘São Paulo landscape‘.

“EIB premises in morning mist”, Overall winner of EIB “Behind the Lens” 2021 competition.

Notes: The EIB “footprint” in terms of its headquarters on Kirchberg is visible from the traditional part of the city of Luxembourg. The building from the early 1980s shows its age in terms of style and its prominent position highlights how the EIB has contributed early on to the ambitious urban development project of the Kirchberg plateau. The typical heavy morning mist was very dense on that day; one could feel the atmosphere on the misty Kirchberg plateau even from the main part of the city, here from the southern part of the Oberstadt.
